So far he's been quite helpful in trying to figure this one out. So far, I've discovered two ways to get around the non-genuine issue - the second one not requiring swapping product keys around. In any case, I've been trialling Vista for work, and I gotta say - there's quite a few nuances with XP right now that Vista would do wonders for, one in particular is the better compatibility with unprivileged user accounts. Still no response to my support query, but switching between my Technet/Retail key managed to get it legit and genuine once more.
