Respect Sakura

Not content with just 1.5TB, and a case poorly suited for the task, I decided to go on an upgrade spree. I’ve been meaning to make a dedicated fileserver for ages now, and when the Windows Home Server beta rolled my way, it only strengthened my resolve to get all those goddamn drives out of my old PC, and into the new one.

And so, project Heracles was born. She’s now outfitted with a CMStacker 831 case, two SNT3141 4-drive SATA bay enclosures, one SNT2131 3-drive SATA bay enclosure for chucking spare drives into for quick hotswapping in the event of disk failure, and a whopping 8 400GB Samsung SATA drives, all with 16MB of cache. I’ve also thrown in a HighPoint RocketRaid 2300 4-port SATA RAID controller in as well - only not running in RAID mode, but “Legacy” mode, so no proprietary RAID shenanigans are written to the drives, making them accessible outside this machine, and in another RAID controller.

Plus, now that I’m permitted to discuss it (and it’s readily available for the public beta testers), she’s running the Windows Home Server CTP as her OS, and doing so awesomely. So.. what does she look like from the Server Storage point of view?
